 Events in the Downtown Area may Impact Traffic
 

 

Huntsville, Alabama (October 19, 2012)  The Huntsville Police Department announces that there are several events planned in the downtown area this Saturday, October 20, 2012 that may impact traffic.  The events are:

 

The Liz Hurley Run will take place between the hours of 07:30 AM and 11:00 AM.

         The race starts on Lowe Avenue west of Adams Street and travels west on Lowe Avenue, make a right turn to travel north on Madison Street, make a right turn to travel east on South Side Square, make a left turn to travel north on East Side Square\Washington Street, make a right turn to travel east on Clinton Avenue, make a left turn to travel north on Lincoln Street, make a right turn to travel north on Meridian Street, make a right turn to travel east on Walker Avenue, make a right turn to travel south on White Street, make a right turn to travel west on Randolph Avenue, make a left turn to travel south on Green Street, make a left turn to travel east on Williams Avenue, make a right turn to travel south on Adams Street to the finish line in front of Huntsville Middle School.

 

Saturday on the Square will take place on the sidewalks and in the streets around the Madison County Courthouse between the hours of 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
         The following streets will be closed for the event: Jefferson Street will be closed at Clinton Avenue, north bound Madison Street will be closed at Gates Avenue, eastbound traffic from Fountain Circle be closed at the curve by the parking garage, Franklin Street will be closed at Gates Avenue, Randolph Avenue will be closed at Green Street, and eastbound Spring Street will be closed at West Side Square.  Access will be maintained to the basement of the Madison County Courthouse.  No vendor, participant or spectator vehicles will be parked on any open roadway or inside of the closed off roadways.

 

March for Life and Liberty will take place between the hours of 12:30 PM and 1:00 PM.

         The march will assemble in Big Spring Park near the gazebo and leave to travel south, then east on Lowe Avenue and disband on Lowe Avenue at Madison Street. 

Drivers in the area should use caution due to the large number of pedestrian traffic expected in the downtown area.  All traffic laws will be strictly enforced and motorists can expect some delays in getting around the downtown area from 6:30 AM to 1:00 PM until the events conclude.
