Huntsville Police Department-Joint
Emergency Command Post Opens for
Big Spring Jam (September 23-24, 2011)
Huntsville, Alabama (September 21, 2011) This year’s Big Spring Jam Emergency Services will be coordinated by a multi-agency Unified Command Post (CP) located inside of the VBC. The Command Post will be the communications center for HPD connecting all three stages with live video and audio. Additionally, Hsv Fire and Rescue will be monitoring specialized sensors located throughout the park and dispatching out of the site. HEMSI will be coordinating its responses with the Madison County Sheriff Department, VBC Security and Southern Jamm Security. The National weather service will be a predominant on-line service with EMA connecting the Command Post with live streaming radar and updates.
This offers the capability of immediate notification of all occupants throughout
the park in the event of a severe weather incident. If any severe weather is
detected, shelter sites will be made available inside of the VBC and city
parking garages and notifications will be made to close the park and move to the
nearest shelter. Preparedness plans will include but not be limited to:
· Threatening Weather conditions
· Lost Children
· Underage Drinking
· Unruly Crowds
· Critical Incident Management
· Unusual Occurrences
All media is invited to visit and get a behind the scenes look at the CP on Friday September 23rd. Mr. Ron Peaslee with Bravo Zulu has been a three year supporter of the event bringing engineering equipment and personnel to the assistance of the unified command emergency personnel.
