Awards to Be Presented

 

Huntsville, Alabama (September 19, 2011) On September 22, 2011 at the Huntsville City Council meeting, Lieutenant David Sedberry and Officer Steve Jackson will receive the Lifesaving Medal.

Lieutenant Sedberry and Officer Jackson saved a subject’s life during a suicide attempt when a man was threatening to stab himself in the neck with a large knife. Lieutenant Sedberry and Officer Jackson calmed the subject who was highly agitated and uncooperative. Displaying their concern for the subjects wellbeing, their patience and professionalism led the subject to drop the knife so that he could be provided medical attention, thus saving his life.

Both, Lieutenant Sedberry and Officer Jackson are assigned to our North Precinct and are both senior, experienced members of the Huntsville Police Department. They are a credit to the Department and the Community they serve.
