Huntsville Police Acknowledge and Thank Community Leaders for Banning Bath Salts

Huntsville, Alabama (February 22, 2011) On February 22, 2011, a press conference was held at 1:30 p.m. in Montgomery, Alabama by Attorney General Luther Strange, and State Health Officer Dr. Donald Williamson. During this press conference a ban was announced on the possession, sale, manufacture & distribution of the so-called “bath salts”.  This is the result of Huntsville Partnership for a Drug Free Community notifying our state officials of the danger from so-called “bath salts” due to its chemical ingredients.  Governor Bentley with Attorney General Luther Strange, State Health Officer Dr. Donald Williamson, Senator Arthur Or and Partnership For a Drug Free Community cooperatively worked together to find an immediate solution to ban these chemical ingredients to protect our community.  This is an excellent example of community and government officials working together quickly to eliminate a drug related product from our community. The Huntsville Police Department would like to extend a thank you to those involved in helping keep our community drug free.
