Huntsville Police Prepare for Christmas Parade

Huntsville, Alabama (December 1, 2010) On Saturday, December 4, 2010, preparations will begin for the annual WAAY 31 Christmas Parade through downtown Huntsville.  Huntsville Police Traffic Services Sergeant Jeffery Rice said all drivers should use extreme caution due to the large number of pedestrians anticipated in the downtown area.  All traffic laws will be strictly enforced.  Expect some delays traveling downtown from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. when the parade concludes.

The Christmas Parade will stage in Lot K at the intersection of Clinton and Woodson, enter Clinton Avenue eastbound, turn left on Monroe Street, continue onto Lincoln Street, turn right onto Holmes Avenue, turn left on Jefferson Street, turn left on Williams Street, turn right on Adams Street and disband at Townsend Avenue.

The westbound lanes of Clinton Avenue from Church Street and the northbound lanes of Monroe Street will be closed at 11:00 A.M.  This will allow WAAY-TV 31 to set up their equipment to telecast of the parade.  All other roads will remain open downtown until shortly before the parade begins at 12:00 P.M.  Roadways will be closed in stages as the parade nears the intersections.  Access to businesses downtown will be kept open with Minor delays expected.
